Abstract

Introduction : From public health centre and goverment hospital routine reports, obtain that 30.000 persons get infected with Sex Transmitted Diseases (STDs) that could cured every year. This finding could have not been occurred if the sex workers and the clients have a healthy behavior. Effort for annihilating or suppressing the spreading risk experience many difficulty, because one of the problems is the minimal knowledge of society concerning reproduction health.
Objective : The objective of this research is to known the correlation between knowledge and attitude about STDs with reproduction health status of sex workers in confinement of prostitution Km 24 Bintan Regency.

Method : This is a analytic research using cross sectional approaching. The primary data (knowledge and attitude) obtain by using questionnaire toward 98 respondents refer to accidental sampling technique. Secondary data obtained after observing respondents medical records.
Result : From the result of this research know that 41.1% respondents within adequate category concerning respondent knowledge about STDs, 71.6% respondents within good category concerning respondent attitude about STDs, and the respondents reproduction health status in a totality manner were 50.5% suffered STDs. With spearman rank test, obtained the p value 0.738 concerning correlation between knowledge of STDs with reproduction health status. The correlation between attitude of STDs with the reproduction health status was indicated p value 0.572.
Conclusion : From this research, inferential that there is no significant correlation between the knowledge and attitude of STDs with sex worker's reproduction health status. Adequate knowledge, and good attitude concerning STDs have no contribution of giving positive influence to Sex worker's reproduction health status.
